Summary:

The prestigious New York Athletic Club, one of the world's premier private clubs, founded in 1868 and located on Central Park South in Manhattan is seeking a Banquet Porter.

Requirements:

• Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the meeting rooms and any room used for group meetings or any catered event.
• Ensure meeting rooms/areas are properly set and all necessary equipment is in place.
• Must arrange all equipment storage areas neatly, inventoried and always organized.
• Tracks upcoming events and banquets.
• Tear-down and set up of the meeting and event rooms, daily Responsible for set-up of all catering and banquet functions in a timely.
• Clean, store, and secure banquet equipment
• Inspects each function room prior to, and during breaks to ensure that all requirements reflected on the daily worksheets are met
• Always ensuring a 'Member Ready' appearance
• Supports a strong commitment to providing excellent service and working as a team.
• Regularly inventory and maintain all related equipment
• Continuously strive for complete members/guests' satisfaction - including cooperating with last minute changes/additions
  
  

Education/Skills/Experience:

• Must have good communication skills, written and spoken
• Must be able communicate in English, and able to read floor plan for banquet events.
• Prior experience working as porter or banquet houseman in hotel/club is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills, and able to work cohesively as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects is required
• Excellent time management skills
