Position Overview

This role is an entry-level opportunity for employees to gain management experience and grow within the company. The Porter 2 position is below a team lead role.

Summary

The employee will ensure customer orders are accurately and promptly filled, maintaining high quality standards. The role also offers opportunities to develop leadership skills.

Responsibilities
  • Attend daily shift meetings, participate in exercises, listen actively, and contribute suggestions. Properly use personal protective equipment (steel toe shoes, facemask, hairnet, etc.).
  • Operate electric walkie or pallet jack for order picking using a voice system. Maintain equipment and report issues immediately.
  • Select multiple customer orders accurately and efficiently, adhering to weekly standards.
  • Manage shorts and substitutions, audit orders, and correct errors on the spot.
  • Load orders correctly and on time, following route and stop sequences for timely dispatch.
  • Train new hires on voice picking and electric pallet jack operation.
  • Follow the BRC program.
  • Assign work to team members as needed.
  • Participate in management training classes.
  • Perform other duties and training as assigned.
Candidate Profile

To succeed, candidates should be team-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Language Skills: Read and understand simple instructions, communicate effectively.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic calculation abilities.
  • Reasoning: Interpret instructions in various formats.
  • Equipment: Experience with forklifts, dollies, electric pallet jacks.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand/walk for most of the shift, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical activities like bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Vision and Hearing: Ability to see small details and communicate in person.
