Job summary

The Edgewater in Madison, WI seeks a Banquet Supervisor to lead event staffing, setup, and service for high‑volume functions. You will oversee function room preparation, guest satisfaction, billing, payroll, and staff training to ensure seamless events.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Catering, Sales, Kitchen and Banquet teams, attending pre‑function meetings, and maintaining Edgewater service standards. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as Banquet Captain/Banquet Supervisor, preferably in high-volume hotel or banquet environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Experience developing and training employees to include Assistant Banquet Manager.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers and management.
• Strong guest service skills and ability to resolve guest issues or complaints.

Responsibilities

• Oversee set-up of function rooms including linens, silver, china, and glassware; supervise clean-up and storage of equipment.
• Enter billing information and post banquet checks at end of day.
• Assist with payroll processing including calculating hours and gratuity distribution.
• Monitor staff attendance, adjust and reassign staffing to ensure quality service during functions.
• Maximize guest satisfaction on every level and respond to guest complaints.
• Attend pre-function meetings with clients and guests to understand expectations; conduct pre-function staff meetings.
• Ensure Edgewater service protocol is followed by staff; guide timing of guest experiences.
• Maintain constant communication with Catering, Sales, Kitchen and Banquet teams.
• Complete weekly food and beverage (liquor) ordering.
• Conduct month-end inventory and post in a timely fashion.
• Assign duties to banquet staff and Banquet Captains for specific events.
• Act as Manager on Duty at other F&B outlets when demand is low.
• Performs other related duties as requested by Management.
