Job summary

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is seeking a Banquet Event Captain to coordinate and execute events, work with clients, and supervise banquet staff and bartenders. This role covers room setup, AV, and catering services to ensure guest satisfaction and adherence to CCAE standards.

You will coordinate with the Sales Team during planning and event execution. Key duties include creating BEOs, managing client communications, supervising staff, and ensuring accurate counts and billing.

Qualifications

• Two years of formal experience as Banquet Captain.
• Experience with banquet operations and AV equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Caterease or Tripleseat software.
• Ability to Bartend.
• Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main client contact after finalization of the sales contract.
• Create and manage Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
• Coordinate with Sales for proper event hand-off.
• Supervise banquet staff and bartenders.
• Plan room setups, AV, and catering services for events.
• Draft post-function Captain’s Report and ensure rooms are ready for next shift.
• Ensure sanitation, safety, and LEAD procedures are followed.
• Maintain accurate guest counts for billing.
