Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Banquet Manager in Chicago to lead the banquet service team, ensure top-tier guest experiences, and drive revenue while controlling labor costs.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in event management or F&B within a hotel setting, strong leadership, and a passion for hospitality. This on-site role offers competitive pay and robust benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in event management, food and beverage, or related area.
• Experience in a hotel and/or hospitality field required.
• Union environment experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards and guest relations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
• Ability to present information clearly to groups of managers, clients and guests.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and manage all aspects of the banquet service department to ensure top efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate food and beverage details for functions including linens, table setups and decorations.
• Supervise preparation, presentation, buffet setups and service to ensure highest quality.
• Inspect rooms and equipment for compliance with quality standards.
• Interview, hire, train, and develop Banquet staff and maintain relationships with in-house groups.
• Process payroll after each function and calculate hours and gratuity distribution.
• Lead coordination with kitchen to ensure timely plating and service.
• Discuss event details with Catering and Convention Services Manager for flawless execution.
• Review guest satisfaction surveys with staff and implement improvements.
