As a Banquet Manager, you will strategically lead the team to take guest satisfaction to the next level.
- Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
- Supervise the set-up of function rooms, including the placement of linens, silver, china, and glassware according to event specifications. Visually inspect function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and setup.
- Communicate verbally, in a calm and positive demeanor, with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, engineering staff, and guest hosts to ensure timely event execution, quality service, and compliance with safety and health regulations and standards.
- Supervise the clean-up of the function room and proper breakdown and storage of equipment.
- Enter billing information into point of sale/automated sales system to generate final guest checks. Process payroll for each event, including calculating hours worked and gratuity distribution.
- Monitor staff attendance according to schedules, adjust and reassign server stations as necessary to ensure quality service during functions.
- Provide clear direction to staff both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain regular attendance and be available to work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Minimum two years' banquet manager experience.
- Alcohol awareness certification preferred.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Proficiency in English communication.
- Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Excellent guest communication skills.
- Willingness to assist coworkers and be a team player.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Ability to lift, carry, or transport up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate food and beverage equipment used at functions.
- Ability to set realistic goals and standards.
