Job summary

Pyramid Global Hospitality is opening the Virginia Guesthouse, a 214-room property near the University of Virginia. We seek a Banquet Captain to lead setup, service, and teardown for banquet functions, directing hourly staff and ensuring guests receive exceptional hospitality.

You will coordinate room setups, supervise servers and housemen, and drive service quality while maintaining safety and operations standards in a dynamic event environment.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably in banquet service.
• Experience in a 4-star/5-star venue with synchronized service.
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for creating an exceptional guest experience.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up for functions: draping tables, silverware, napkins, centerpieces, and drink stations.
• Serve, bus, and carry trays to function locations; clear tables as needed.
• Break down and buss tables; clean back hall and store rooms.
• Assist with event room setup and meal-period needs (AM/PM breaks).
• Prepare condiments, brew coffee, stock workstations; ensure supplies available.
• Serve food and beverages; clear dishes and reset tables for guests.
• Explain menu items, ingredients, and preparation styles to guests.
• Provide warm welcomes and guest information; assist other staff when needed.
• Monitor tables for guest satisfaction and service quality; address issues promptly.
• Maintain safety standards (spills, cords, glass, leaks) throughout the event.
