Job summary

The St. James Hotel seeks a dedicated Banquet Captain to organize and supervise banquet staff, ensuring flawless events and exceptional guest service at the historic property in Red Wing, MN.

The role is full-time with an hourly pay range of $18.94 to $24.62, contingent on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent with 6 months to 1 year of related banquet facility experience.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook; strong verbal and written communication.
• Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills; strong problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Execute and supervise the duties of banquet servers, bartenders, and house personnel.
• Ensure staff effectiveness through coaching, counseling, and performance appraisal.
• Act as department head in the manager’s absence, representing the hotel to clients.
• Investigate and resolve service complaints to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate activities with all departments to provide efficient services.
