Job summary

The University of Colorado Boulder’s Department of Campus Dining and Hospitality (CDH) is seeking a Banquet Captain (Shift Supervisor) to lead event setup, service, and breakdown in a hands-on role. This position oversees full-time, student, and temporary staff, ensuring top-notch customer service and smooth operations in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include food safety, SOP compliance, schedule management, and staff coaching.

Qualifications

• Four years of food service experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Must obtain food safety certification within 6 months of hire.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of the University of Colorado defensive driving training within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff during events and ensure SOPs followed.
• Coordinate setup, service, and breakdown of events and spaces.
• Ensure food safety labeling and allergen compliance; monitor equipment and staff training.
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and staff performance discussions.
