Job summary

First Hospitality seeks a Banquet Captain to lead banquet operations within the hotel's Food and Beverage team, coordinating service between kitchen, banquet staff and guests.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to train staff, manage opening and closing duties, and uphold hygiene and service standards to ensure guest satisfaction at events.

Qualifications

• Must speak/read/write English and understand workplace language.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong administrative skills including business writing and basic math.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work calmly under stressful situations.
• Maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food service between kitchen and banquet staff and guests.
• Review and implement table and seating diagrams.
• Operate as banquet server during functions: set‑up, greet, and service, assist with breakdown.
• Assist with bar back duties and stock transfers.
• Set example and adhere to hygiene and grooming standards.
• Maintain standards for product quality, service speed, cleanliness, and sanitation.
• Manage opening/closing side work, inspection duties, and captain's report.
• Ensure proper training on quality and service standards and provide necessary tools.
• Establish and achieve quality and guest satisfaction goals.
• Assist in pre-service and periodic training.
• Complete accurate bill according to BEO and obtain signature from guest.
• Assist Banquet Manager in staff training when needed.

The impact you'll make...

The Banquet Captain will work closely with the Hotel's Food and Beverage Department, both front-of-house and back-of-house. This position leads & services banquet functions for the hotel. Responsible for leading the banquet team during banquet functions to ensure positive customer experience.

What you'll be doing...

• Ensure proper training on quality and service standards and have the tools & equipment to effectively carry out their job functions

• Assist in pre-service and periodic training
• Complete accurate bill according to BEO and obtain signature from guest
• Assist Banquet Manager in training of staff when needed

Requirements...

• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong administrative skills, to include business writing, mathematics for basic accounting and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, bending, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
• Ability to work calmly under stressful situations
• Maintain high level of guest satisfaction is an absolute requirement for this position
