Role Description

The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising banquet events from setup through breakdown to ensure a smooth, high-quality experience for guests. This full-time, on-site role in Katy, TX includes coordinating room layout and table settings, directing banquet servers, and verifying that food and beverage service meets hotel standards. The Banquet Captain communicates event details with kitchen and catering teams, monitors timelines, and adjusts staffing or service flow as needed. Daily tasks also involve greeting organizers, responding to guest requests, overseeing cleanliness and safety of event spaces, and completing post-event reports. The role supports training of banquet staff, maintains equipment and inventory, and upholds Marriott brand standards for hospitality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Strong supervisory skills with experience leading banquet, events, or hospitality teams.
• Hands‑on food service expertise, including banquet setup, service styles, and basic food handling practices.
• Exceptional customer service abilities focused on guest satisfaction, problem-solving, and service recovery.
• Clear and professional communication skills for coordinating with guests, kitchen staff, servers, and event planners.
• Knowledge of food & beverage operations, including menu execution, bar service coordination, and event timing.
• Previous experience in hotels, events, or catering environments; Marriott or branded hotel experience is a plus.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights for extended periods, and to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or event management coursework or certifications are beneficial.
