Job summary

Opal Grand Oceanfront Resort & Spa is seeking a Banquet Captain to lead event service and ensure flawless execution. You will work closely with the Banquet Manager and Banquet Chef to coordinate timing, guest counts, and setup for all events, while overseeing staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

The ideal candidate has prior Banquet Captain experience, strong English communication, and the ability to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous Banquet Captain experience required.
• Must be able to read and communicate in English to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Attend BEO meetings and coordinate a plan of action with the Banquet Manager for all events.
• Attends daily meetings with Banquet Manager to receive event assignments and discuss logistics.
• Ensures all functions are posted correctly outside the Banquet meeting room.
• Maintains communication with Banquet Chef to coordinate timing and guest counts.
• Inspects event rooms for setup, cleanliness, and alignment with the BEO.
• Leads banquet staff during events and ensures service standards are met.

Responsibilities:

• - Adhering to all property standards, polices and procedures
• - Performing all guest contact in a cordial, efficient and professional manner at all times maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction.
• - Marinating a cooperative team-like attitude in working with Supervisors and fellow employees to help achieve a wonderful experience for our guests.
• - Attend BEO meetings, as necessary, and discuss a plan of action with the Banquet Manager for all events.
• - Attends daily meetings with Banquet Manager to receive event assignments and discuss logistics.
• - Ensures all functions are posted correctly outside the Banquet meeting room.
• - Maintains constant contact with the Banquet Chef to ensure effective communication between food production and food service. Gives exact count of how many guests are present and advise of any service timing changes or alterations.
• - Inspects the Banquet room for assigned functions, making sure that all details reflect the BEO.
• - Check temperature, lighting and general cleanliness of event room.
• - Meets with Servers, Bartender and event staff to provide instructions and post daily side work.
• - Inspects table place-setting, table linen, chinaware and silverware for correct placement and conditions to ensure that all is clean, undamaged and attractive.
• - Responsible for proper setting of of buffet tables and other food service tables.
• - Supervises the handling, storage and security of all Banquet service equipment.
• - Sees that all scheduled events take place on time and according to BEO.
• - Makes contact with the host in charge of event to introduce him/herself and coordinate all final details of the event.
• - Informs Banquet Manager of any repairs needed related to service equipment.
• - Participates in Banquet staff training sessions with Manager.
• - Promptly and accurately performs any special assignments made by Banquet Manager.

Qualifications:

• - High School Diploma/GED a plus but not required
• - Previous Banquet Captain experience required
• - Must be able to read and communicate in English to ensure guest satisfaction
• - Must be able to work weekends and holidays
• - Previous guest service experience required.
• - Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
• - Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift.
• - Able to work quickly without compromising quality.
• - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
