Job summary

InterContinental Indianapolis, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, seeks a Banquet Bartender to support event-driven service on-site. You will set up bars, mix drinks, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with liquor laws while delivering warm, professional guest interactions.

You will assist with cash handling and work flexible night, weekend, and holiday shifts to support a premium hospitality team at this landmark property.

Qualifications

• The strength to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and comfortable with bending.
• The ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Comply with local laws on food handling and alcohol service, and be fluent in the local language.
• Excellent communication and a warm, welcoming demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Set up the bar area for events, stock glassware, ice, and supplies.
• Prepare, mix, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and portions.
• Maintain accurate inventory and restock as needed during events.
• Break down the bar area after events and clean all surfaces and equipment.
• Provide exceptional guest service and handle cash/credit transactions accurately.
• Adhere to liquor laws and company policies at all times.

About this position

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:

Bar Setup and Preparation

• Set up the bar area according to event specifications, including arranging bottles, glassware, ice, and other necessary supplies.
• Ensure the bar is clean, organized, and well-stocked before, during, and after events.
• Prepare garnishes, mixes, and other drink ingredients.
• Transport bar equipment and supplies to and from event locations.

Beverage Service

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently, following standard recipes and portion control guidelines.
• Provide friendly and professional service to guests, addressing their needs and requests promptly.
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.

Inventory Control

• Maintain accurate inventory of bar supplies and report any shortages or discrepancies.
• Restock bar supplies as needed during events.
• Properly store and handle alcoholic beverages.

Bar Breakdown and Cleanup

• Break down the bar area after events, cleaning all surfaces, glassware, and equipment.
• Return bar equipment and supplies to designated storage areas.
• Dispose of trash and recycling properly.

Guest Interaction

• Provide excellent customer service, addressing guest inquiries and concerns professionally.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.

Adherence to Regulations

• Adhere to all local and state liquor laws and regulations, including verifying legal drinking age.
• Follow company policies and procedures regarding alcohol service.

What we need from you

• The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling
• A good grasp of reading, writing and basic math
• The flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Compliance with local laws on food handling and serving alcohol - you'll need to be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
• Great communication - you'll be warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to
