Job summary

CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa in Carefree, AZ seeks a part-time bartender to deliver exceptional service at events and bars, greet guests, mix beverages, and support banquet operations. The role emphasizes upselling, maintaining cleanliness, and teamwork.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years bartending and serving experience, ability to read safety rules, and a friendly, proactive approach. Availability on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays is required to support busy weekend events.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of bartending experience preferred.
• Two to three years of serving experience required.
• Title 4 preferred.
• Food handlers card preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assure opening checklist is completed and bars are set for event openings.
• Observe customers and ensure they are greeted, seated, and treated promptly.
• Make beverage recommendations and upsell drink specials as directed by management.
• Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
• Maintain cleanliness in bar and service areas.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks per standard recipes.
• Attend pre-shift meetings and adhere to health and safety codes.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

Must have availability to work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Essential Functions:

1. 1. Assure opening checklist is completed and making sure bars are set up for event openings.
2. 2. Observe customers as they sit down at the events and assure they are greeted promptly and properly and seated in a friendly manner.
3. 3. Make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.
4. 4. Up sell drink specials as directed by management.
5. 5. Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
6. 6. Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with food and service.
7. 7. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests or problems.
8. 8. Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth operation of bars and patio areas.
9. 9. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the banquet standard drink recipes.
10. 10. Learn names of patrons and personally recognize regulars.
11. 11. Wash, sterilize, and polish glassware.
12. 13. Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
13. 14. Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
14. 15. Receive and serve food orders to guests.
15. 16. Report any observed guest issues to Manager.
16. 17. Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to Manager.
17. 18. Must attend and participate in pre-shift meetings.
18. 19. Ensure compliance with health and safety codes and policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two to three years bartending experience preferred. Two to three years of serving experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret retail product labeling. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
