The Banquet Bartender is required to mix and serve beverages according to established company standards and local laws.
The Banquet Bartender is responsible for fulfilling the beverage needs of banquet guests in a timely and polite manner. The Banquet Bartender is also accountable for liquor issued to him or her, and for receiving payment for drinks and submitting these payments along with appropriate paperwork.
EDUCATION: High school diploma and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred. Previous bartending experience helpful. TIPS certification will be required.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Wine opener, shot glass, shaker.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Long hours may be required. Medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by coworkers and guests. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic arithmetic functions.
OTHER ABILITIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of banquet protocol helpful. Thorough knowledge of wine, liquor, and beer. Familiarity with cocktail ingredients.
ESSENTIAL: Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards, as required by scheduling. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag. Comply with all standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations. Prepare bar fruit and garnishes. Count liquor for each party. Stock and clean glassware. Prepare and serve drinks courteously. Collect payments when necessary. Clean and restock the bar. Prepare the banquet liquor room for the next day. Enforce all local liquor laws.
