  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet software.

Responsibilities

  • Review, monitor, and manage bankruptcy-related accounts in the portfolio with compliance.
  • Prepare case notes and file bankruptcy documents including proofs of claim and discharge paperwork.
  • Serve as liaison with courts, trustees, attorneys, and internal departments.
  • Track and report bankruptcy case status, recoveries, and risks to management.
  • Monitor payment plans and adjust repayments post-bankruptcy as required by court orders.
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures related to bankruptcy processing and recovery.
  • Identify risk exposure and suggest loss mitigation and debt recovery strategies.
  • Take inbound/transfer calls to support Account Servicing for bankruptcy questions.

Bankruptcy Support Specialist Duties

The Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for managing and processing all bankruptcy-related accounts within the company’s portfolio. This role ensures compliance with federal and state bankruptcy laws, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and provides accurate reporting on bankruptcy cases to protect company assets and minimize losses.

Pay Range: USD $23.00 - USD $24.00 /Hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review, monitor, and manage accounts involved in bankruptcy proceedings by conducting account research, processing customer requests, placing holds, updating account status, ensuring compliance with automatic stay requirements, sorting and distributing inbound and outbound mail, and responding to emails and inquiries related to loan balances, payoffs, and appropriate decision-making.
  • Accurately prepare case notes and file bankruptcy and legal-related documentation including proofs of claim, reaffirmation agreements, discharge paperwork, and legal submissions ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and efficiently enter data and upload documents into the system of records.
  • Serve as primary liaison with courts, trustees, attorneys, customers’ legal representatives, and internal departments by staying up to date with changes in bankruptcy laws and best practices to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and smooth handling of bankruptcy cases.
  • Track and report bankruptcy case status, recoveries, and potential risks to management.
  • Monitor payment plans and ensures accurate account adjustments during and post-bankruptcy proceedings including calculating and adjusting repayment plans, settlements, or payoffs as required by court orders.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to bankruptcy processing and recovery.
  • Identify risk exposure and recommend strategies for loss mitigation and debt recovery.
  • Follow policies and procedures to complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Take inbound/transfer calls to support Account Servicing and customers with bankruptcy-related questions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management. Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly. Must be able to take direction and work well with others. Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines. Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately. Must be able to react to change productively.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in bankruptcy, loan servicing, collections, or a related field. Proficiency in loan servicing or case management software required.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet software.
