Job description

Our client, a midsized, real estate dominant law firm, is seeking to add to its team a Bankruptcy or Restructuring Counsel or Partner with a minimum of eight years of experience in a peer or large firm setting. Although a portable book of business is favored, it is not required. This is an opportunity for an experienced bankruptcy attorney to help grow an established practice and take a leadership role in managing sophisticated matters and client relationships.

The practice handles sophisticated Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 matters, out of court restructurings and workouts, distressed real estate and other special situations. The work includes DIP financing, Section 363 sales, claims trading, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, SIPA proceedings, avoidance actions and related complex commercial litigation.

The firm is most interested in a subject matter expert, a Counsel or Partner with the judgment and experience to handle sophisticated matters independently and serve as a trusted adviser to clients. In addition to strong drafting, negotiation and courtroom skills, the attorney must have strong professional communication skills with clients and internal stakeholders. New York admission is required. Compensation includes a salary of $300K to $350K, significant bonus potential and a top tier benefits package.
