Job summary

Lateral Link, on behalf of a leading AmLaw 50 firm in New York, seeks a mid-level bankruptcy & restructuring associate (3–6 years) to handle Chapter 11 matters for debtors, committees, and distressed buyers. You will manage day-to-day workflow and client relationships with minimal partner handholding.

The role offers exposure to in-court and out-of-court matters, DIP financing, 363 sales, and complex restructurings, with a compensation package on Cravath scale and bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of Chapter 11 and restructuring experience at a comparable firm or a bankruptcy clerkship plus firm experience.
• Experience representing both debtors and creditors' committees, with drafting and courtroom exposure.

Responsibilities

• Represent debtors, creditors' committees, and creditors in in-court and out-of-court matters.
• Manage multiple matters concurrently and maintain client relationships at your level.
• Handle first-day motions, DIP financing, plan negotiations, and confirmations.

Restructuring is the one practice where a 4th-year can be the most important lawyer in the room at a first-day hearing — the partners are negotiating with the lenders, and the associate who knows the DIP order cold is the one running the docket.

An AmLaw 50 firm with a nationally ranked restructuring practice is hiring a mid-level bankruptcy & restructuring associate (3–6 years) in New York. Cravath scale — $260K–$390K depending on class year.

You'd represent debtors, creditors' committees, individual creditors, and distressed buyers across in-court and out-of-court matters, managing your own client relationships and day-to-day workflow at your level rather than waiting on a partner to hand down the next task.

The work includes:

• Chapter 11 cases in SDNY, Delaware, SDTX, and NJ — first-day motions, DIP financing, plan negotiation, and confirmation
• Creditors' committee and individual creditor representations, including claims litigation and adversary proceedings
• Section 363 sales, distressed M&A, and stalking horse and credit bid strategy
• Out-of-court restructurings, liability management exercises, and exchange offers

What you bring:

• 3–6 years of Chapter 11 and restructuring experience at a comparable firm, or a bankruptcy clerkship plus firm experience
• Reps on both the debtor and creditor side, with real drafting and courtroom exposure
• Ability to run multiple matters at different stages and own the client relationship
• Strong academics; New York bar admission
