A nationally recognized, Chambers-ranked Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice is seeking an exceptional associate to join their New York office. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with a market-leading restructuring team on a broad range of sophisticated domestic and cross-border matters involving complex financial restructurings and insolvency proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters, including in-court Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, liability management transactions, and distressed M&A situations.
- Represent a broad range of stakeholders, including creditors, investors, distressed companies, hedge funds, and financial institutions in both domestic and international restructuring matters.
- Draft and negotiate key restructuring and transaction documents, including restructuring support agreements, DIP and exit financing documents, intercreditor agreements, and plan-related documentation.
- Work on company-side and investor-side matters, including Section 363 sale processes and plan sponsorship transactions.
- Handle sophisticated cross-border restructurings, including matters involving Latin America and Eastern Europe, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across jurisdictions.
- Appear and assist in contested matters before trial and appellate courts, including complex Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 proceedings.
- Manage transaction and case workflows, coordinating due diligence and liaising with multiple stakeholders across workstreams.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a top-tier law firm working on bankruptcy and restructuring matters, with exposure to both in-court Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.
- Experience representing company-side and buy-side clients, including involvement in Section 363 sales and/or plan sponsorship transactions, as well as broader creditor and lender representations.
- Juris Doctor and New York Bar admission required.
- Strong negotiating, drafting, analytical, and project-management skills.
- Excellent academic credentials and professional references.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
