Job summary

Hydrogen Group, a leading international firm, is expanding its financial restructuring practice in New York and seeks a 4th to 7th year associate to join a growing team handling in-court and out-of-court matters.

The practice focuses on creditors’ committees, bondholders and distressed investors, and is building out debtor- and borrower-side offerings. You will work closely with partners who manage their own matters and take on significant responsibility.

Qualifications

• Restructuring experience in a major US or international law firm, covering chapter 11, out-of-court restructurings or bankruptcy litigation.
• Debtor-side, liability management or cross-border experience is an advantage but not essential.
• Admitted to the New York Bar.

Responsibilities

• Work on chapter 11 cases.
• Handle out-of-court restructurings and liability management transactions.
• Involve DIP and exit financings.
• Engage in bankruptcy litigation.
• Manage cross-border matters, including Chapter 15.

Job description

We are currently under mandate from a leading international firm that is expanding its financial restructuring practice in New York. They require a 4th to 7th year* associate to join a group that has added several partners this year and is busy across both in-court and out-of-court work.

The practice has a long-standing reputation on the creditor side, acting for official and ad hoc committees, bondholders and distressed investors. It is now building out its debtor and borrower-side offering.

The work covers:

• chapter 11 cases
• out-of-court restructurings and liability management transactions
• DIP and exit financings
• bankruptcy litigation
• cross-border matters, including Chapter 15 and a strong flow of Latin American work

You would be working closely with partners who run their own matters, at a point where the team is growing and there is real room to take on responsibility.

About you:

• Restructuring experience gained at a major US or international law firm, whether chapter 11, out-of-court or bankruptcy litigation
• Debtor-side, liability management or cross-border experience is an advantage but not essential
• Admitted to the New York Bar
