Qualifications

• The candidate must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and 5-7 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience.
• Experience representing creditors, landlords, or supply chain parties is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and familiarity with the Uniform Commercial Code.
• Experience with commercial transactions, workouts, and restructurings, plus advocacy, research, and writing skills.
• Excellent academic credentials, highly organized, detail-oriented, and client-service oriented; business development interest is a plus.

Our growing international law firm client is seeking a Bankruptcy & Restructuring Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join its Detroit practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bankruptcy attorney to handle sophisticated matters involving business debtors, creditors, landlords, and supply chain parties, while gaining meaningful responsibility across workouts, restructurings, commercial transactions, and bankruptcy proceedings.

The ideal candidate will bring substantive bankruptcy experience together with a strong understanding of commercial law and an interest in continuing to develop client relationships and their practice.

Role Overview

The attorney will work on a broad range of bankruptcy, restructuring, and commercial matters, which may include:

• Representing business debtors and creditors
• Advising landlords in bankruptcy proceedings
• Representing suppliers and other supply chain parties
• Corporate workouts and restructurings
• Commercial transactions involving distressed businesses
• Bankruptcy litigation and contested matters
• Advising clients regarding rights and remedies under the Bankruptcy Code
• Matters involving the Uniform Commercial Code
• Negotiating and documenting restructuring and workout arrangements
• Conducting legal research and drafting motions, briefs, and other court filings
• Developing case strategy and advising clients throughout bankruptcy proceedings
• Working directly with clients on complex financial and commercial matters

Candidate Profile

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• 5-7 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience
• Experience representing one or more of the following:
• Creditors
• Landlords
• Supply chain parties
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code
• Familiarity with the Uniform Commercial Code
