Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a Bankruptcy Attorney for our Birmingham, AL office. You will manage high-volume statewide bankruptcy matters, ensuring timely progression of case files and compliance with applicable rules.

You’ll liaise with clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, and trustees. The ideal candidate has a J.D., at least 3 years of bankruptcy experience (Chapter 7 & 11), knowledge of related statutes, and excellent research and writing skills.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active Alabama State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years bankruptcy experience, including exposure to Chapter 7 and 11.
  • Familiarity with FDCPA, RESPA, TILA is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed; capable of handling high-volume matters.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage high-volume statewide bankruptcy matters.
  • Ensure timely progression of case files.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, and trustees.
  • Review and execute legal documents such as Payment Change Notices and Proofs of Claim.
  • Conduct Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and attend court hearings.
  • Prepare motions and pleadings related to secured creditors in bankruptcy.
  • Manage caseload to meet goals and client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate updates in management systems.
  • Prepare and present legal documents.

They will serve as a liaison between the firm and various stakeholders, expediting case files efficiently.

Duties
  • Oversee and manage high-volume statewide bankruptcy matters.
  • Ensure timely progression of the firm's case files.
  • Act as a liaison with clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, and trustees.
  • Review and execute legal documents such as Payment Change Notices and Proofs of Claim.
  • Conduct Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and attend court hearings.
  • Prepare motions and pleadings related to secured creditors in bankruptcy.
  • Manage case load to meet goals and client expectations.
  • Handle escalated and time-sensitive matters.
  • Maintain accurate updates in management systems.
  • Prepare and present legal documents.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Alabama.
  • Minimum of 3 years of bankruptcy experience, including exposure to Chapter 7 and 11 cases.
  • Experience in real estate, mortgage, or commercial litigation preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, and relevant state and federal laws is a plus.
  • Experience in foreclosure and real estate law preferred; willingness to learn required.Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Education
