Job summary

FNBO (First National Bank of Omaha) is seeking a Banking Automation Engineer Intern to assist in designing, developing, and testing automation solutions using Python and AWS services. You will gain hands-on experience with data processing, reporting workflows, and secure integrations within a regulated banking environment.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and contributing to enterprise automation efforts.

Qualifications

Foundational understanding of automation concepts.
Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts, particularly within AWS.
Basic understanding of data structures, relational databases, and data processing concepts.
Academic, personal, or project-based experience with Python or another programming language.
Basic SQL skills for querying and validating data.
Interest in learning AWS services such as Lambda, S3, EC2.
Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to follow logical troubleshooting steps and ask for guidance when needed.
Ability to translate clear requirements into small, testable automation components.
Ability to follow structured development, testing, and deployment processes.
Ability to organize assignments, meet deadlines, and communicate progress or blockers.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

Assist with designing, developing, and testing automation solutions using Python and workflow platforms.
Support automation scripts used for data processing, reporting workflows, and operational processes.
Translate documented requirements into small, maintainable automation components under guidance.
Gain exposure to deploying automation workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, EC2.
Assist with secure access and integration activities while adhering to security and compliance standards.
Help identify manual, repetitive tasks candidates for automation.
Partner with engineers and stakeholders to understand process design and automation requirements.
Participate in testing automation solutions for accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
Support deployment and monitoring activities for automation solutions with supervision.
Work with structured data using SQL and cloud platforms such as Snowflake as assigned.
