Job summary

Metro Market in Wisconsin seeks a bakery associate to create outstanding customer experiences through friendly service, maintain a safe, clean environment, and assist the department manager in achieving department sales and profit goals.

You will know bakery products, prepare items, offer samples, maintain product quality, follow food safety rules, and help customers with product questions. Previous bakery or retail experience is preferred, and a food handlers permit is required upon employment.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Bakery experience is preferred.
• Retail experience is beneficial.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer return.
• Respond to questions about products and make recommendations.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery specials and inventory.
• Ensure products are fresh and properly portioned to minimize shrink.
• Label, stock and inventory bakery merchandise.
• Follow food safety regulations and temperature logs.
• Notify management of safety risks or equipment issues.
