Job summary

FiNCA, a queer-owned bakery in Atlanta, GA, is seeking an energetic baker to join our small team producing from-scratch pastries for our Old Fourth Ward location, Side Saddle Wine Saloon, and catering clients.

You'll start at 5am, work weekends and some holidays, and collaborate with front-of-house teammates while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Has baking experience, home or professional.
• Basic baking skills: measuring, mise en place, baking.
• Must be clean, organized, and able to perform regular cleaning.
• Must obtain ServSafe Food Handler certification within 60 days.
• Flexible weekends, early mornings, and some holidays.
• Strong communication with coworkers and management.
• Excellent attention to detail in fast-paced production.
• Team player who can work independently.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes for from-scratch pastries in bulk quantities, bake to FiNCA quality standards.
• Open the store by baking pastries and preparing breakfast sandwiches.
• Communicate openly and work well in a team.
• Complete production and prep lists while managing time and production flow.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary workspace and complete cleaning duties.
• Follow food safety standards, portion, label, store, and rotate products.
• Assist with delivering pastries to Side Saddle Wine Saloon and catering clients.
• Paid delivery shifts may be offered if you own a vehicle.

We are an energetic, queer-owned coffee shop based in ATL, GA! We believe in serving humanity’s finest coffee, pastries, and hospitality! What is being a baker at FiNCA like?

Our bakery team is a small team that gets a lot done! We produce pastries for our lovely Old Fourth Ward location, Side Saddle Wine Saloon, and catering/wholesale clients. We work hard, move quickly, and take pride in producing high-quality food that our guests love. Our bakers work both independently and collaboratively, and every day looks a little different depending on production needs. We start our days in the bakery as early as 5am and stay busy Monday through Sunday!

Who are you?

• You have previous baking experience (at home or professional)
• You have a basic understanding of baking skills and techniques (measuring, mixing, mise en place, baking, etc)
• You are clean and organized and willing and able to perform regular cleaning tasks, such as doing dishes, sweeping, and mopping
• You have (or can acquire within 60 days of hire) a Food Handler’s certification from Servsafe
• You have flexible availability and can work on weekends, early mornings, and some holidays
• You communicate effectively with coworkers and Management
• You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable asking clarifying questions when you are unsure
• You can manage your time effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail
• You enjoy working in a team environment and also have the ability to work independently

Essential functions

• Follow recipes for from-scratch pastries in bulk quantities, produce pastries consistently to FiNCA's quality standards, and communicate when something isn't working
• Opening the store on a regular basis by baking off fresh pastries, preparing breakfast sandwiches, and collaborating with FOH members in the mornings
• Communicate openly and work well in a team environment
• Complete assigned production and prep lists while managing time effectively and communicating when production is falling behind
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace throughout the shift and complete assigned cleaning and closing duties
• Follow food safety standards and properly portion, label, store, and rotate products (FIFO is your friend)
• Monitor product quality, identify issues, and escalate to leadership when necessary
• Be willing and able to assist with delivering pastries to both Side Saddle Wine Saloon and our catering/wholesale clients around Atlanta
• We also offer paid delivery shifts if you have a personal vehicle

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for 8+ hours a day
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to safely work around commercial ovens, mixers, refrigeration, and other kitchen equipment
