Job summary

Maman Soho is seeking a Prep Cook/Baker to support daily bakery and café operations, preparing high-quality pastries and menu items according to maman recipes. You’ll help ensure consistency, food safety, and efficient production while collaborating with the back-of-house team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

The ideal candidate loves baking, works well under pressure, and can stand for long periods while lifting up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience as prep cook or in back-of-house in a cafe/bakery.
• Familiarity with pastry preparation and basic baking techniques.
• Strong knife skills and basic kitchen techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes and portion guidelines.
• Strong time management and multitasking.
• Passion for hospitality and teamwork.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pastries and menu items per maman recipes, including doughs, batters, fillings, and garnishes.
• Daily prep tasks: chopping, measuring, mixing, and assembling ingredients.
• Follow proper knife techniques and safety practices.
• Support baking and production to meet quality standards and presentation.
• Maintain clean, organized workstation and proper labeling/stocking of ingredients.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries as needed.
• Communicate issues affecting quality or safety to Kitchen Leader.
• Collaborate with BOH and front-of-house to ensure smooth service.
• Perform ad hoc tasks to support daily operations.
