Job summary

Bimbo QSR Chicago LLC is seeking a Plant Engineer to lead engineering and maintenance for a bakery site in Ohio. You will oversee capital planning, PM programs, safety and quality compliance, and the development of management and non-management personnel within the engineering/maintenance team.

The role emphasizes equipment reliability, cost control, and collaboration across operations, safety, and quality functions to meet regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or business administration.
• 5–10 years+ experience in predictive/proactive maintenance.
• Experience administering a computerized preventive maintenance management system.
• Technical computer skills related to administration, equipment and process applications.
• Strong leadership, teamwork and communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a safe working environment through compliance with safety programs.
• Develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs for bakery equipment.
• Analyzes and solves technical maintenance issues.
• Organizes and implements work assignments based on equipment priorities and PM effectiveness.
• Establishes KPIs and reports to monitor maintenance performance and initiates remedial actions.
• Communicates status of engineering/maintenance activities to relevant teams.
• Develops and implements maintenance procedures, standards, and policies for compliance with laws and company policies.
• Manages outside contractors for maintenance and project work.
• Provides training on safety policies, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Confined Space, Hazard Material Handling and PPE.
• Evaluates skill levels and develops training requirements for maintenance staff.
• Identifies training programs (e.g., AIB, vendor-based) to improve maintenance skills.
• Participates in HACCP team and maintains records per guidelines.
• Prepares, monitors, and controls the engineering/maintenance department budget.
• Responsible for MRO budgeting and stockroom management.
• Ensures site security and oversees capital program documentation with project engineers.
• Supports training procedures and operating requirements for new equipment.
