Job summary

Klosterman Baking Company in Ohio is seeking an Assistant Facility Engineer to manage engineering needs, supervise hourly staff, and oversee maintenance and installation of plant equipment. You will ensure equipment reliability and productivity while leading a team toward safety and quality objectives.

The role requires supervising and developing mechanics, coordinating with plant peers to meet regulatory standards, and driving cost-effective maintenance programs to support production goals.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising maintenance staff in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong understanding of equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to lead, coach and develop a maintenance team.

Responsibilities

• Assure equipment reliability to maximize production lines productivity.
• Supervise, coach, train, lead and motivate mechanics to meet objectives and respond to emergencies.
• Build staff capability by monitoring performance and providing feedback.
• Communicate shift status to following shift and others requiring information.
• Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
• Assess mechanics technical and troubleshooting skills.
• Provide training and counseling to assist mechanics in meeting standards.
• Partner with plant peers to meet regulatory requirements for cleanliness and product safety.
• Maintain P&L responsibility over maintenance cost centers, repairs, labor, utilities and capital plans.
• Oversee preventative maintenance compliance and effectiveness.
• Develop and monitor short- and long-term goals and action plans.
• Assist in operational improvements to reduce costs and increase productivity.
• Develop and maintain part inventory.
• Interface with vendors, manufacturers and field service personnel.
• Utilize lean manufacturing principles to maximize efficiency.
• Provide day-to-day operational leadership to mechanics and related personnel.
• Develop a work environment that promotes trust, teamwork, quality, and safety.
• Develop, evaluate, train, and mentor employees.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure production of quality product in compliance with federal and state guidelines.
