Job summary

Aspire Bakeries in Alsip, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance on bakery equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations supporting continuous production and food quality.

The role requires diagnosing equipment malfunctions, assisting with repairs/changeovers, and coordinating with bakery personnel and contractors. Shift is 2nd with 2PM–10:30PM hours; hourly rate $20–$28.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• 1 year minimum of mechanical/electrical experience in industrial/manufacturing machinery or 3 years in the same field
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment functions and maintenance techniques
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and plan effectively
• Safely operate around moving equipment in a production environment
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Experience in food, beverage, bakery, or other regulated manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with equipment setup, changeovers, and preventive maintenance programs
• Experience using CMMS
• Ability to operate forklifts/scissor lifts with appropriate certifications
• Strong communication and teamwork with production, sanitation, and other departments

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance on bakery equipment to minimize downtime and support safe, reliable operation
• Assist production teams in diagnosing equipment malfunctions and verify equipment readiness after repairs, changeovers, or downtime
• Support troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and basic PLC-related issues
• Operate tools and equipment such as saws, drills, power tools, scissor lifts, and forklifts in a safe and compliant manner
• Document maintenance activities and findings in the Maintenance Management System and communicate updates via computer and email
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with GMPs, safety programs, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate work with bakery personnel and escort external contractors to minimize disruption to production and maintenance schedules
