BAKERY/LEAD CLERK (Finance)

Backup the department manager and oversee the department successfully in the manager's absence, mastering the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including merchandising, order guides, scheduling, contribution to profit, people development, and customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or general education degree, 1+ years' retail experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Friendly, approachable, and outgoing demeanor/team player.
  4. Sound judgment/decision-making skills.
  5. Strong math skills (e.g., calculate discounts, proportions, percentages).
  6. Basic algebra and geometry skills (e.g., calculate circumferences, volume).
  7. Ability to read/interpret documents (e.g., training manuals).
  8. Good oral and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers/employees.
  10. Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
  11. Welcome, serve, and assist customers to provide excellent customer service.
  12. Ensure proper staffing to address service levels and efficient utilization of labor.
  13. Operate equipment (e.g., knives, box cutter, pricing gun) according to company guidelines.
  14. Effectively communicate with customers and respond to questions and requests in a timely manner.
  15. Ensure opening/closing procedures are followed according to SOPs.
  16. Assure storage and code dating SOPs are adhered to for all products.
  17. Ensure all price changes and in-store transfers occur in a timely fashion in the department manager's absence.
  18. Ensure the removal and disposal of unsellable products from the department.
  19. Follow all merchandising guidelines, including display models, signage, and product packaging.
  20. Monitor the temperature and placement of products in coolers and freezers to maintain freshness.
  21. Oversee product portion control to ensure SOPs are met.
  22. Ensure all receiving procedures are adhered to appropriately in the department manager's absence.
  23. Proof, bake, glaze, top, and thaw products in accordance with SOPs.
  24. Perform stocking duties, ensuring correct placement of stock and refilling of products.
  25. Follow all company and department policies and SOPs.
  26. Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations and guidelines according to company, local, state, and federal health codes; identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
  27. Maintain flexibility to work all shifts and relocate to another store location as needed.
  28. Physical demands include walking on wet surfaces, standing, turning, kneeling, reaching, squatting, stooping/bending, lifting and carrying objects 5 to 80 lbs., and pushing/pulling objects 200 to 2,000 lbs., with exposure to hot/cold temperatures. Occasionally crawl, climb ladders, and walk on uneven ground.
