Job summary

H-E-B in Houston, TX seeks a Store Department Lead to guide a well-stocked department, ensure product quality, and maintain displays while delivering exceptional customer service. The role includes supervising, scheduling, and training Partners, backed by strong inventory control and safety practices.

You’ll back up the Department Manager, coordinate with Bakery, Beauty, Deli, and Produce teams, and oversee standards across multiple sections.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of department production stations, including quality standards, set-up, operation, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment
• Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions, production planners, procedure manuals)
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Partners
• Education: Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or 6+ months of related experience and / or training
• Licenses/Certifications: Completion of Company Orientation, food safety and sanitation training, and eCommerce Online Ordering training

Responsibilities

• Provides / coaches on superior customer service
• Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
• Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections
• Uses suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge and experience to meet customer needs and build department sales
• Trains Partners; directs work; addresses complaints; resolves issues; builds / follows up on production plans and their execution
• Assists with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product
• Assists in all technical areas, as needed
• Performs Representative / Specialist duties frequently
• Customer Service / Sales: Provides / coaches on superior customer service
