Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Bakery Department Manager to lead a fast-paced bakery team. You will set service standards, oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure product quality and freshness.

You’ll collaborate with store leadership to meet department goals and drive customer satisfaction. The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to train and motivate staff in a retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in bakery or retail management preferred.
• Sanitation training or food safety knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set department standards for service, cleanliness, sanitation and profitability.
• Lead a team, recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff.
• Plan schedules, manage inventory, pricing and bookkeeping for the department.
• Monitor weekly sales, plan promotions, and display layouts.
• Ensure product temperatures and freshness; support equipment maintenance.
