Job summary

H-E-B is seeking an energetic Department Manager to lead a fast-paced store area. You will drive customer service, merchandising, and daily operations with independent judgment and team leadership.

The role emphasizes scheduling, inventory control, compliance with SOPs, and meat/food safety standards. 18+ years old, 1+ year experience required; forklift training is a plus. This is an hourly full-time position at our Texas stores.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 (mandatory).
• 1+ years of experience in the department, or comparable experience.
• Completion of Store / department training (e.g., forklift / power jack).
• Food Safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Spends the majority of time using independent judgment making employment-related and business decisions, or effectively recommending such decisions, including product- and department-related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or otherwise engaging in resolving Partner-related matters
• Assists department Partners with their duties; coaches / trains, / evaluates as needed
• Holds Partners accountable for following SOPs
• Prepares work schedules, orders product, controls inventory, monitors department budget and payroll
• Completes / distributes all required reports and paperwork so accounting statements accurately reflect departmental performance
• Complies with SOPs and department / Loss Prevention procedures to minimize shrink and residual inventory
