Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery/deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover items.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Notify management of discrepancies in product ordering/shipping.
• Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions from customers.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an welcoming environment and assist customers with questions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report needs for repair.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced environments.
