Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Kentucky is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to deliver an outstanding customer experience and help maintain a safe, clean environment. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales and quality standards while promoting the Customer 1st philosophy.

You will prepare bakery items, suggest products, follow recipes and temperature logs, stock shelves, and respond to customer questions.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will be able to inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use all equipment in bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, etc.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products on request.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Gain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Promote trust and a respectful environment among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
