Job summary

Kroger is hiring a Bakery/Deli Clerk to create an outstanding customer experience and maintain safe, clean environments. You will assist the department manager to meet sales goals and promote the Customer 1st strategy, while upholding core values of respect and integrity.

Responsibilities include preparing items per customer requests, offering samples, informing customers of specials, and ensuring accurate portions and freshness.

Qualifications

• Minimum position qualifications include customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of basic math is required.
• Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products ordered in correct portions to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens per guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, mix ingredients with various utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
