Responsibilities
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend bakery or deli items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
- Follow food safety and temperature logs, and prepare foods following cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
- Label, package, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take necessary actions.
- Maintain store layout knowledge to locate products for customers.
- Stay current with store promotions and product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
- Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among staff.
- Adhere to food safety and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, managing conflicts professionally.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
- Customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to obtain a food handler's permit upon employment
