Job description

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions :

1. Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
4. Provide customers with ordered products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
5. Recommend bakery or deli items to ensure customers get the products they want and need.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
10. Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping.
13. Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
14. Stay current with ads and promotions.
15. Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
18. Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued.
19. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
20. Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
21. Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
22. Notify management of accidents involving customers or employees.
23. Work cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
24. Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
25. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
26. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
27. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
28. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications :

1. Knowledge of basic math.
2. Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit upon employment.

Desired Previous Job Experience :

1. Bakery or deli experience is helpful.
