Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
5. Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
10. Check product quality for freshness and review "sell by" dates, taking necessary actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise accurately.
12. Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the manager.
13. Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
14. Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
15. Gain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping logs.
18. Promote trust and respect among staff.
19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making them feel valued.
20. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
22. Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
23. Report customer or employee accidents.
24. Work cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
25. Manage conflicts in a nonconfrontational manner.
26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
27. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to obtain a food handlers permit upon employment.
