Bakery/Deli Clerk (Finance)

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Customer Service skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit once employed

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
  2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  4. Provide customers with ordered products, ensuring correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
  5. Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
  6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
  7. Follow food safety procedures, including proper food temperatures and cooking instructions.
  8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients per recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  10. Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
  11. Properly operate kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, and steamers.
  12. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  13. Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
  14. Locate products within the store as requested by customers.
  15. Stay updated on current, seasonal, and promotional advertisements.
  16. Maintain knowledge of products and assist customers with questions and suggestions.
  17. Monitor inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies.
  18. Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers, keeping logs.
  19. Promote trust and respect among team members.
  20. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and providing assistance.
  21. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  22. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and report them.
  23. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
  24. Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
  25. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  26. Manage conflicts constructively and cooperatively.
  27. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  28. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  29. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  30. Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Salary Range: $16.91 - $24.15
