Responsibilities include:
- Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Informing customers of bakery and deli specials.
- Providing fresh products ordered by customers with accurate portions to minimize shrink.
- Recommending bakery or deli items to meet customer needs.
- Using bakery equipment properly, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens, per company guidelines.
- Preparing foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients following recipes with appropriate utensils and equipment.
- Packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients and merchandise.
- Checking product quality and freshness, reviewing 'sell by' dates, and taking appropriate actions.
- Using kitchen equipment safely, including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots.
- Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
- Reporting discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
- Knowing the store layout and locating products for customers.
- Staying current with ads, promotions, and seasonal items.
- Maintaining product knowledge and responding to customer questions with suggestions.
- Monitoring inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, logging temperatures.
- Promoting trust and respect among team members.
- Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions and ensuring they feel valued.
- Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting them.
- Inspecting equipment for preventive maintenance and reporting repairs.
