Job Description

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend bakery or deli items to customers based on their needs.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure and prepare ingredients according to recipes, using appropriate utensils and equipment.
• Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
• Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
• Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
• Label, stock, and manage inventory of department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping.
• Understand store layout and locate products as requested.
• Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions and seasonal ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions or suggestions.
• Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping logs.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and foster trust among staff.
• Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
• Report customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, managing conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
