Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare bakery/deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products ordered, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  • Prepare foods following safety and cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
  • Properly operate kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping.
  • Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
  • Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.
  • Maintain product knowledge to answer questions and suggest products.
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  • Promote trust and respect among colleagues.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers, engaging with them about products.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
  • Report accidents involving customers or employees.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
