- The Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs and preferences.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
- Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take necessary actions.
- Use kitchen equipment properly, including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
- Know the store layout and locate products as requested by customers.
- Stay updated with current and upcoming promotions and seasonal ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products and assist customers with questions and suggestions.
- Monitor inventory conditions and note discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers, with logs kept.
- Promote trust and respect among staff.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued and appreciated.
- Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report repairs needed.
- Notify management of any accidents involving customers or employees.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
