Bakery/Deli Clerk (Finance)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products they ordered, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens.
  • Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes, using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment such as stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
  • Understand the store layout and locate products for customers.
  • Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Maintain knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions.
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  • Report customer or employee accidents.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, managing conflicts professionally.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance as needed to resolve issues.
  • Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
