Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Bakery Clerk to join our friendly bakery team in Kearney, NE. You’ll greet customers, help them find products, and process orders at the counter while keeping the bakery stocked and attractive. This role offers hands-on training and a supportive environment.

You’ll perform prep and replenishment of baked goods, monitor freshness, and follow sanitation standards. Prior experience isn’t required; you’ll be trained to excel in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy bakery environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery.
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter.
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout the shift.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking.
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping the work area clean and organized at all times.
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable.
• Work alongside teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
