Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Bakery Cake Designer to transform customer ideas into beautiful cakes and treats. You will work in a fast-paced bakery environment, lead part-time staff, and collaborate with the team to ensure timely production and on-site wedding cake setup.

You will decorate cakes, manage daily orders, and maintain high standards of sanitation and safety while delivering friendly, helpful service to customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or less of related work experience; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers, taking orders at the bakery counter, and assisting them with their needs.
• Check orders for the day, set up a timeline and production schedule, and verify cake details (size, deco pack, icing, dates).
• Decorate bakery items in a timely manner and stay current on new designs and trends.
• Develop daily bakery orders for bakers, including cakes and sizes needed.
• Lead part-time employees and coordinate with the Bakery Manager; participate in cross-training and shift coverage.
