Job Description

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Responsibilities

1. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
2. Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
3. Maintain cleanliness of counter, cases, and coolers on a continuous basis.
4. Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
5. Meet the day's production goals for baked goods.
6. Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.
7. Plan and organize a development plan, including setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and developing appropriate timelines.
8. Assist with receiving and unloading of merchandise and supplies.
9. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
10. Prepare special orders per customer requests.
11. Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
12. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
13. Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
14. Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
15. Properly use kitchen equipment, proof-box, stove, computerized scale.
16. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
17. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
18. Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products when requested by customers.
19. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
20. Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
21. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
22. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
23. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
24. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
25. Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
26. Follow all current merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense, and safety rules.
27. Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Retail experience
• Second language skills (speaking, reading, and/or writing)
• Ability to handle stressful situations
