Job summary

Plum Market in Bloomfield Township, MI is seeking a Bakery Assistant Manager to lead the Bakery department, oversee daily operations, and coach Team Members. This full-time role combines leadership with hands-on service in a fast-paced retail bakery environment.

You will partner with the Bakery Manager to manage orders, inventory, production scheduling, and merchandising while upholding Plum Market’s standards of quality and guest experience. Strong communication and flexibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in bakery operations or related food service departments.
• Ability to manage documentation such as order guides, logs, and SOPs.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an outstanding Customer experience by leading with hospitality, efficiency, and a positive attitude.
• Support the Bakery Manager in ordering, inventory control, and production scheduling to ensure consistent product availability.
• Monitor the quality, freshness, and merchandising of all bakery products.
• Provide daily direction and support to Team Members, assisting with training, task delegation, and performance feedback.
• Step in to lead the department in the Manager's absence, ensuring operational continuity and a strong service culture.
• Maintain pricing accuracy, signage standards, and store cleanliness across all bakery service areas.
• Collaborate with leadership and peers to execute promotions, seasonal resets, and department goals.
• Foster a safe and sanitary working environment by following food safety guidelines and Plum Market policies.
• Actively participate in team communication, meetings, and development efforts to enhance performance and morale.
• Model professionalism, accountability, and Plum Market’s core values in all interactions.
