Job summary

Tatte Bakery & Cafe in New York is hiring a Baker to identify ingredients, prepare, form, and bake items in our Pastry, Bread, or Viennoiserie departments. You will work in a fast-paced environment, take pride in quality, and collaborate with a team to produce desserts and pastries from scratch.

Experience in high-volume bakery production and a passion for fresh, delicious pastries are essential. Weekend availability is expected and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in high-volume bakery production, banquet production kitchen, restaurant kitchen, or similar environment.
• Desire to help where needed and work as part of a team.
• Passion for cooking with a keen eye for freshness, quality, and cleanliness.
• An appetite for learning and delicious pastries, cakes, and confections.

Responsibilities

• Identify and select ingredients to follow recipes.
• Scale given recipes to match production needs.
• Sheet, shape, and prepare doughs in a modern manufacturing environment.
• Build composed desserts.
• Make house-made jams, fillings, mousses, and more.
• Top, finish, and decorate desserts.
• Adhere to cleanliness and sanitation standards, including FDA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Founded by Tzurit Or in 2007, Tatte Bakery began in a home kitchen and at Boston farmers markets before opening its first café in Brookline, Massachusetts. THE ROLE

As a Baker, you will identify and select ingredients, prepare, form, and bake items in our Pastry, Bread, or Viennoiserie departments. At Tatte, we bake everything from scratch and use high-quality ingredients.

Our bakery production team members must thrive in a fast-paced work environment while adhering to cleanliness and sanitation standards. Most importantly, they must take pride in what they do and be team players.

Qualifications & Experience

• Prior experience working in a high-volume bakery production, banquet production kitchen, restaurant kitchen, or similar environment
• Desire to help where needed and work as part of a team
• Passion for cooking with a keen eye for freshness, quality, and cleanliness
• An appetite for learning (and delicious pastries, cakes, and confections)
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Take pride in what you do
• Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are a plus
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, with availability for at least one weekend shift per weekend

Essential Functions / Working Conditions

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
• Ability to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift, manipulate, and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time, up to 8 hours
